CONVEYING CHILDREN TO SCHOOL.
A number of people have taken up permanent residences at the seaside, which is from three to three and a half miles from the town. One of the drawbacks to such residence is the distance their children have to travel to school. A petition was forwarded bv parents to the local school committee asking that a sideschool be established at the Beach. The Chief Inspector of the Board and the local Board representative, Mr Fraser, Interviewed parents, and suggested that the children should be conveyed at the Board’s expense to the Foxton School. The parents agreed to this proposal, and the local committee forwarded the necessary documents to the Board, but by some means the papers have gone amissing. However, the Board member and committee have the matter in hand, and it is hoped, within a week or two, to have a conveyance running from the Beach to the school for the carriage of children of whom there are twelve of school age.
