VIOLENT THUNDERSTORM.
BUILDING, Jan. 27.
During a violent thunderstorm this afternoon, lightning set fire to a hedge at the residence of Mr A. Williamson, endangering the bouse.
Fortunately the outbreak , was noticed and was extinguished with buckets of water after spreading almost to the building. Christchurch, Jan. 27. A heavy thunderstorm passed over the city early to-night, and a deluge of rain fell and continued throughout the evening. Many localities were flooded.
