SALVATION ARMY BARRACKS.
The local corps of the Salvation Army, under Captain Pike and Lieutenant Gudsell, have worked up a very live connection locally, and their efforts have met with such success that headquarters has sanctioned the purchase of a suitable site wherein barracks are U be erected. All details have been arranged and in order to complete the scheme Captain Pike has been set the task of raising locally. This young lady, with the faith characteristic of the army offices, is not dismayed at the barrier to be overcome and has started out on a money raising tour. A local resident has headed the list with a donation of £lO and several others have promised liberal assistance. The site purchased tor the barracks is next to the Manawatu Hotel in the Avenue.
