WELLINGTON RACING CLUB’S SPRING MEET-

The Wellington Racing Club’s spring meeting was opened at Trentham on Saturday. The weather was the worst experienced in the history ot Trentham, and as a result there was only a lair attendance. The amount that passed through the machine was £qßo6, a decrease of ,£9146 for the corresponding day of last year, the figures for last year being £18,952. Results:— Rimutaka Handicap. SECOND DAT. Ideal weather prevailed for the second day’s races at Trentham. The attendance of the sporting public reached a record number for a spring meeting, the number present being about ten thousand. The track was still heavy after the violent storm on Saturday, but improved as the day advanced, and the fields in the majority of the events were of average size. The totalisator was well patronised throughout the day, and the total investments reached £28,427, which is a record for any single day at a spring meeting. The total for the two days amounted to .£38,233, compared with .£45.3 2 3 for the spring meeting last year. The results were as under :
