WATER AND DRAINAGE.
MR CTJAIIE TO BE AGAIN CONSULTED.
At last night’s Council meeting the Mayor moved and Cr Speirs seconded, that Mr Climie be asked to fix a date to meet the Council to discuss his waiter and drainage scheme, also to state what his fee would be.
'The Mayor said that the proposal to again put the water and drainage scheme before the ratepayers was carried ou the motion of Cr Adams. Since then Cr Adams had resigned and the Mayor said he had asked him, seeing it was his proposal, what sieps he thought should be followed, and he had favoured the Council again conferring with Mr Climie, the engineer. 'The Mayor said that there were no doubt one or two minor alterations that could well lie made. Again the price of pipes had increased, also the cost of labour and Inis would necessitate an alteration iu the estimate. A letter was read from Mr Metcalf, civil engineer of Auckland, in which he staled the cost ot tne scheme was very much underestimated. The motion was carried.
