MOUTOA NOTES.

The Moutoa Ladies’ Hockey Club gave a progressive euchre party aud dance ou Friday evening in Dr. Walls’ Hall, kindly lent by Mr Doyle. The hall was beautifully decorated with evergreens and flowers. All the ladies of the hockey club wore their club colours, and with the attractive decorations aud the charmingly attired young ladies, the scene was most attractive. Mrs Noble, of Moutoa, won the ladies’ prize, aud Mr Prentice, also of Moutoa, won the geuts. T..- prizes were kiudly presented by Mrs Hall aud Mrs Carter, of Moutoa. After a tasty supper had been served, dancing was kept up until early morning. The music was supplied by Messrs Walden aud Prentice. Great credit is due to Miss Newth, the captain ot the club, aud Miss Russell, the secretary, lor the success of the entertainment. After thanking the ladies and singing “Auld Lang Syne,” a most enjoyable time was brought to a close. Whilaunui Ltd., which has been closed down tor the past six weeks, reopened three of their strippers ou Thursday. The Poplar mill,, which quite recently changed bauds, will, we understand, commence working iu about two months time. A game of hockey was played at Moutoa last week, between Aloutoa and Shannon, aud resulted iu a win tor Shannon by one point. Moutoa boys say they will play Shannon to a standstill next time they meet.
