DEATH OF THE GIRT

The death occurred at Motuiti at 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon of Te Ran o te Rang! (Emily Heta) daughter of Mr Nap Heta. The deceased was only 16 years of age. The immediate cause of death was consumption.

It was only on Wednesday last that the girl’s depositions were taken in connection with the charge of rape preferred against the Maori tohuuga, Hiugawaka Tuparoa, who was afterwards committed tor trial at the next sittings of the Supreme Court at Palmerston North.
