AGAINST THE TOTALISATOR.

MISSION REPORT

The New South Wales Totalisator Commission has presented a majority report agaiast the totalisator on the ground that it tends to increase gambling and affords undesirable facilities for betting among women. The minority report favours the machine.
The Commission visited several States, and in the early part of the. year took evidence in New Zealand. The bulk of the testimony in this country was against the bookmaker, though several witnesses —generally those having a lesser association with racing—preferred the bookmaker if it came to ? ' jr of choice.
