SCHOOL AT FOXTON BEACH.
NOT FAVOURED BY THE
BO A 1.0
The following teport was submitted by the Chief Inspector at the last meeting of ihe Education Board re the above subject. The Board decided to adopt the recommendation, and the local committee and residents in the locality will confer ou the matter at an early date : "I have the honour to state that in conjunction with Mr Fraser, I visited Foxton Heads to investigate the claims of the householders there for the establishment of a side school at Foxton, Each of the applicants was interviewed and it was shown that the distances from the Foxton School averages from 3 to miles, and that there are 14 pupils ot school age and five under school age. Some of the applicants urged that the school should be granted so that the childieu of visitors to the beach during the summer season might attend and so enjoy the benefits of a long holiday, and others simply said that the distance to Foxton was tou great for children to walk. As there is a good road to Foxton, and all the applicants live within a few yards 0! each other, it is a clear case for conveyance and two of the six applicants heartily approve of the suggestion. Recommended that the applicants and the Foxton Committee be asked to endeavour to arrange for conveyance with a view to an application being made to the Department for a grant for this purpose.”
