BICYCLE TALK.
The belief that it is necessary to go to the big towns to purchase cheaply, is claimed by the Foxton Cycle and Motor Coy., to be not only a mistake, but in many cases where the purchase of a cycle or motor is concerned, lo be decidedly disadvantageous. A replace advertisement has been inserted lo this effect, and in order to prove this claim the firm is prepared to compete with any price quoted by any firm throughout the country, especially those firms that are trying to “cut.” It will also be interesting to note that in cases where “cut price catalogues” are circulated, it can, by comparison, be found that where some small lines are re-sold at almost cost prices, the greater number of lines more than make up for these “calch-peunies.” For example, a machine built of B.S.A. fittings, catalogued at ,£l2 12s, is looked upon by a large majority as cheap, whereas, machines guaranteed built throughout of B.S.A. fittings can be supplied from £lO ros to £l7 17s, and there is a corresponding difference in the values even though all the machines contain the same material. This is one point oiteu overlooked by the would-be thrifty buyers, who completely disregard the fact that the assembling and building of machines is every bit as important to ensure satisfaction as the quality of the fittings it contains. Hence, the variable prices which can so easily be made to counteract the “catch-penny” losses. And then there is the price, etc. of motor cycles, the same article that is displayed at Palmerston and elsewhere can be supplied locally, and in this line also we are prepared in all cases to make it worth our patrons while to place their oraers locally. Agencies have beeu arranged lur nearly all the highgrade makes of motors and cycles, including the machine with a mture, the B.S.A. h.p., which can be quoted at a special figure. Amongst other specialities in cycles is a machine constructed to aur own specification, containing all the most desirable improvements, including Eadie Coaster hub, (not an American), Brook's saddle, reversible handle bars, oxidised non-rusting spokes, machine enamelled in any colour desired, with first-grade tyres and all accessories, guaranteed throughout at £<j 15s. From this quotation it can be seen that we are endeavouring lo give the best value obtainable anywhere and trust that local wheelers will discriminate when purchasing a new mount.*
