ENTERTAINMENTS.
SKATING
There was only a moderate attendance at the municipal skating rink last night. This fascinating pastime has been very popular evei since the rink was opened, and now the learr. s’ room has but few patrons, this being due to the fact that most of the learners have enough confidence to venture iu the big hall. A uoticeable feature is the great improvement iu some of the skaters, and by the time the rink closes it will possess some really first-class, fancy and graceful skaters. Owing to the falling off in the attendance it would be a good idea if the manager put ou a “competition night.” This would, of course, create freshj interest among enthusiastic patrons, and would also be a splendid thing for the Council. Last evening there was not one onlooker on the stage, and it behoves the management to put on something of interest, as it is very monotonous for non-skaters. If this idea is adopted the attendance of oulookers would greatly increase. We hope the manager will fall-in with this suggestion aud bring it to a successful issue. The rink will be open on Thursday aud Friday evenings of next week.
