On the fourth page appears an article of particular interest to those engaged in the hemp industry. The attendance shield at the local State School was won this week by Standard 11. with 98‘8 per cent.

For interrupting a parade at Wellington two young men were convicted and ordered to pay court costs, 19s each.

The services in the Roman Catholic Church to-morrow will be conducted at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. by the Rev. Father Kelly. The Borough Baud will render a programme ot muic in Main Street this evening. A collection will be taken up in aid of the band funds.

Very severe frosts were experienced in this district yesterday and this morning. Glorious sunshine has compensated for the morning's biting cold.

Mrs A. S. Easton has donated a prize for the best boy’s fancy dress at the forthcoming Children’s Ball, and Mrs Mandl is giving a prize for the best fancy costume worn by a girl.

A concert and social is advertised to take place in the Methodist Schoolroom on Thursday evening next. A capital programme will be submitted and refreshments provided. The Anglican service at the camp will take place at 2 p.m. when the Rev. A. S. lunes Jones, vicar of Feildiug aud chaplain to the regiment, will preach. Special hymn sheets will be provided.

The services iu the local Methodist Church will be conducted iu the morning by the Rev. T. Coatsworth, who willl take as his subject, “ The Good Fight ol Faith ” aud iu the evening by the Rev. N. Hyde (ot Shannon). An open-air meeting will be held at Rimmer’s corner about 5.15 p.m. At the municipal picture entertainment on Monday evening next, the doors will be open lor the territorials only at 7 p.m, aud the general public at 7.15. The entertainment will commence at 7.30 p.m. sharp in order that the entertainment shall close iu time to allow the territorials to reach camp by 10 p.m.

To-morrow F Whit-Sunday, the Feast of the Holy Spirit, and there will be special services in All Saints’ Church at 8 a.m., n a.m., and 7 p.m. All the services will be taken by the Rev. A. S. InnesJones, vicar ol Feilding, and Chaplain to the Mounted Rifles. On this Feast the Church especially orders that all Communicants be present at the Altar, * The services in the Presbyterian Church to-morrow will be conducted morning and evening by the Rev. J. M. Thomson, M.A. The service in the evening will be of a special character in view of the presence amongst us of the territorials, who are cordially invited to attend. A camp service will be conducted at 2 p.m, by the Presbyterian chaplain, Rev. J. M. Thomson, M.A., assisted by the Rev. T. Coatsworth, Primitive Methodist. The choir of rhe two churches are asked to help. The Colonel and camp authorities kindly state that , members ol cnurches and civilians generally will be warmly welcomed to the camp services, A practice of the hymns for the service will be held in the Presbyterian schoolroom to-night at 8 o’clock and all who are willing to assist with the musical portion ol the service are asked to attend.

Additions are made to the Rangiotu stock sale list. The Jackeytowu Dairy Factory is paying for butter-fat which is claimed to be a record.

It is anticipated that the military camp will be visited by a large number of people to-morrow.
