OUR BATTLESHIP.

London, May 21

The Admiralty announces that as the result of the Government communications New Zealand should be employed where her services will be most useful as a cruiser for detence. The New Zealand has re-iufotced the China Squadron. The Admiralty has decided that the New Zealand shall visit the Dominion early in 1913, and then will join the first cruiser squadron in the first fleet.

The Daily Mail says that the retention of the New Zealand in Home waters is the first result of the German naval plans. It was splendid patriotism on the part of New Zealand people. Their eagerness to take a full part in Imperial defence was proved by the gift of the battleship, and was also shown by their unselfish offer to meet the new development.
