FOXION DEBATING SOCIETY.
The annual general meeting ol members ol the Foxton Biterary and Debating Society was held in the Presbyterian Hall on Thursday evening. There was a good attendance, and the Rev J. M. Thomson was voted to the chair.
The report and balance-sheet, disclosing a credit balance of £ r 14s, was read and adopted. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:— Patron, Mr G. ,H. Stiles ; president, Mr J. K. Hornblow ; secretary and tteasurer, Mr A. McCall ; committee, Messrs Dr Adams, Dr Mandl, J. Buglass, J. Ross, H. Claris, G. Rough, A. J. Kellow, and T. Henderson. It was decided to ask the ministers ol the different churches to accept the positions of vicepresidents of the society. It was decided to continue holding the meetings of the Society in the Presbyterian Hall, meetings to be held fortnightly, instead of weekly as last year. It was decided to open the season next Thursday evening with a debate, the subject to be chosen by the President.
