INDEPENDENT ORDER OF RECHABITES.
Mr K. K. Morgan, secretary of the Palmerston branch of the above Order advertises in our columns, requesting all those interested in the formation of a branch in Foxton to communicate with him immediately, when, on the receipt of ten names, the District Officers will arrange for a meeting to start the branch. Since the days of small beginnings, this Order has flourished beyond the expectations of the most sanguine. During the first two years over 7,000 had joined in liugland, and at the present time the membership throughout stands at 520,000, and the accumulated funds amount to £2, 500, 000. The New Zealand Central District was instituted in 1872, at Wellington, and has branches iu forty different places. The Order now claims to be the oldest, largest, and wealthiest temperance benefit society in the world. Males and females are admitted from ages, x 6 to 40, females paying half fees only, thus receiving half benefits. Benefits are, £1 sick pay for twelve mouths t,this is tUe only society that pays this amount tor twelve mouths), continuous sickness 10s per week for ensuing six months, and 5s per week as long as sickness lasts ; funeral benefit ,£3O. of which may be paid on the death of member's wife. Members are not entitled to the above benefits until they have been twelve mouths in the tent, but medical benefits start from the day of initiation, including wile and children up to the age of 16 years. Honorary members receive medical benefits lor 7s 6d per quarter.
