UNUSUAL AFFILIATION CASE.
CLAIM AGAINST GRANDFATHER.
Auckland, May 10
An affiliation case presenting unusual features came before Mr Kettle, S.M., to-day. Tins was a case in which a young woman made a claim against the lather of the young man alleged to be the parent.
It was stated that, at the end of November last, the young man had disappeared, leaving no trace. He had been ordered to join the Territorials, and he had told his parents that he intended to leave the Dominion rather than serve, t hey presumed that this was his leasou for leaving, as they knew ut no other cucumstauces that would cause him to go away. The magistrate, alter hearing the evidence, said that he considered that the corroboration of the girl’s story was sufficiently strong to warrant his making an order, though he admitted that law, as it stood, seemed unduly nard in making the putative grandparents responsible tor the sins of their prodigal sous. An order was made for payment of 7s 6d a week, together with ,£5 18s 6d, arrears, and ,£7 16s, birth expenses.
