TWO MORE WRITS,

Two further writs in the Stagpoole cases were served to-day by Mr C. A. Loughnan on behalf of Thomas Stagpoole. Messrs Nash aud Coombe have received a writ for ,£IOOO damages for publishing in the Manawatu Standard a statement of the defence of Frederick Piraui, into which the paragraphs from the Feildmg Star (originally complained of) had been interpolated.
In this statement of defence there was a denial that the re-cently-formed company of Frederick Piraui aud Co., Ltd., were the proprietors of the Feilding
•’Star” on xVlarch 18 when the paragraphs forming the subject of the libel action were published. Messrs Loughnan and Jacobs, as solicitors for Mr Stagpoole, nave now sued Frederick Pirani aud Co., Ltd., lor damages in couuectien with a publication of the statement of defence in the Feilding “Star” on a subsequent date.
