PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
The quarterly meeting of the district committee of the Foxtou charge of the Presbyterian Church was held at Rangiotu on Thursday. The Rev J. McKenzie (interim moderator) presided, and there were present:—Messrs Amon and Costall (Glen Oroua), Mathesou and M. Richardson (Tiakitahuua), Wilton, Macaulay and Simpson (Rangiotu), and Gibbs, Hornblow and Alex. Speirs (Foxton). The quarterly financial statement was submitted and discussed. It was decided to ask the Presbytery whether it intended to take any action in reference to the section at the Beach. It was pointed out that the section was obtained with a view to erecting a dwelling thereon for ministers. Failing any action being taken by the Wanganui Presbytery, it was decided that the Foxton committee should dispose of the lease. Alterations and repairs to the manse at Foxtou at a cost of ,£l7 was sanctioned. Alter a lengthy discussion, it was decided to procure a motor bicycle for the minister. It was pointed out that a horse and gig was not suitable for such a wide district. Committees were set up to purchase the machine and arrange finance re same. It was decided to sell the two horses, the proceeds of such sale to be devoted to the payment ol the bicycle. It was stated that there was a likelihood of Tiakilahuna being transferred from the Foxtou charge to St. Andrew’s, Palmerston N., at an early dale, but nothing official had yet come before Presbytery. A good deal of routine business was transacted. The delegates were hospitably entertained at luncheon in the ball by Mesdames Macaulay, Simpson and Glendinning, who were accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
