CRICKET.
The original fixtures for the Hall Shield competition for Saturday next have been altered on account ot Otaki being unable to visit Foxton on any other day but next Saturday. The fixtures now are: Otaki v. Foxton at Foxton, and Tainui v. Levin at Otaki ; Training Farm a bye. The Foxton-Otaki match will commence punctually at 2.15 o’clock, and the selected players are requested to be on the ground not later than 2 p.m. The following team has been selected : Redgrave, Cook, Whibley, Bowe, Cleland, Wickham, Howe, Death, Rore, Knewstub, Gascoigne and Young. Mr F. Martin will officiate as umpire.
East Saturday the Hall Shield match, Tainui v. Training Farm, was played at Weraroa, and resulted iu a win for the Training Farm by nine wickets. Tainui scored 42 and 32, and the Training Farm 41 and 36 tor one wicket.
There is a probability of one or two matches being arranged to be played during the Easter Holidays. The Wadestown Club is sending an eleven to Shannon, and an endeavour is being made to get the team to also visit Foxton. A Wellington team intends visiting Palmerston, and Mr Ken. Tucker, the well-known Wellington representative cricketer, has telegraphed to Mr Redgrave to the effect that he will endeavour to get the team to visit Foxton also. In view of the above it is lo be hoped that the local players will hang together, and take every opportunity of playing so aa to keep in form.
