CRICKET.

The third of the series of matches between Mr Redgrave’s team and a Beach eleven selected by Mr Cleland, was played at the Beach yesterday afternoon, and resulted in a win for the visitors by 12 runs. Up till yesterday each side had won a game each, and thus by their win yesterday Reddy’s” team has secured the “ashes.” The Beach eleven batted first, and compiled 47, ot which total Young contributed 15. Redgrave and Whibley shared bowling honours, each being responsible for the downfall of lout wickets. Foxton opened badly, Whibley bm.ig bowled with the score at o.w, ~.id Cook received his quietus when the total on the score boaid was only eight. Howe did not remain at the wickets long, and when Redgrave was bowled it looked any odds on the Beach being victorious. The defeat was averted, however, by the stand put up by Hollington and Brookes, who scored 27 between them.

The following team has been selected : —Redgrave, Bowe, Cleland, Cook, Death, Howe, Edlin, Wickham, Clark, Rore, Hickson and Whibley. Emergencies: Knewstub, Gascoigne and Hinchcliffe. The team will travel by motor cars which will leave the Manawatu Hotel punctually at one o’clock.
