OBITUARY.

MR JAMES INGRAM-

AGED 73

Wc regret to have to chronicle the passing away of another of Foxtou’s old residents, in the person of Mr James Ingram, of Jeuks Street, who died suddenly at 2.30 o’clock yesterday afternoon. For some two years past the late Mr Ingram had been ailing, but was not bedridden. On Sunday he was particularly well and spent the afternoon and evening chatting with old friends. Yesterday morning he was about as usual and appeared in fairly good hcaltu and was jolly. He partook of a good hearty dinner and alterwaards look a hoe and went out into his garden. Later he asked his wife to bring him a rake and just as she reached him with it he collapsed, and died without speaking. The late Mr Ingram was born in Kent, .England, on July 2nd., 1838, and alter following the occupation of a contractor for some years, embarked for New Zealand, arriving in Wellington on May 24th., 1884. He came straight on to Foxtou and engaged in farming pursuits on Mr Hughes’ property on No. 2 Fine. After following this occupation for some years he removed to the property in Jenks Street, where he resided up to the time ol his death. The deceased took a great interest in horticulture, and his garden was a revelation in intense culture. At the present time there is a very line showing of fruit and vegetables, all the work in connection with which Mr Ingram carried out himseh. He loved his garden and therein he spent his last moments.

The late Mr Ingram leaves a widow but no family. Mr W. Ingram, of Levin, is a brother, and Mrs Hughes and Mrs Corkery, of Foxton, are sisters ol the deceased.

The funeral will take_ place tomorrow afternoon, leaving his late residence at 2 o’clock for All Saints’ Church and thence to the Foxton Cemetery.
