MOUTOA DRAINAGE BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Moutoa Drainage Board was held in the Board’s office last night. Present: Messrs B. G. Gower (chairman), H. G. Hammond and O. R. Robinson.
The clerk reported the amount to credit ot loan account at 18s rod, and to general account £l6 18s. Since last meeting the balance of general and special rates had been collected and placed to credit.
Dr Wall wrote at some length in connection with the drains under the Board’s control, but the letter was allowed to lay on the table.
Accounts amounting to ns 3d were passed for payment against loan account, and £l2 15s against general account.
The overseer reported that since last meeting chains of new drain had been completed for 23 days’ work, depositing 3139 yards, giving an average of about 136 yards per day. The dredge was now in the reduced width, of which about four chains had been completed, i. he timber that was now being met with was fairly solid, and hinders progress somewhat, but it was hoped to run out of the sound timber soon.
It was decided to instruct the overseer to furnish a repoit on the drains for next meeting.
