BOROUGH COUNCIL.
MONTHLY MEETING
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Foxton Borough Council was held la the Council Chamber last night. Present: His Worship the Mayor (G. H. Stiles, Esq.), and Crs Coley, Stewart, Gibbs, Chrystall, Richmond, Greig and Speirs. An apology for absence was received from Cr Carter. HEALTH officer’s report. The District Health Officer reported that a dwelling visited recently by Inspector O’Brien was in an insanitary condition, and recommended certain repairs and improvements. —It was decided, on the motion of Cr Coley, seconded by Cr Stewart, that the recommendations of the Inspector be given effect to. THE BOWLING GREEN. Correspondence was read from the Under-Secretary of Hands, advising that the . section at present leased to the Bowling Club, which was originally set aside as a site for a Town Hail, had now been vested in the Foxton Borough Council in trust for municipal purposes in terms of Section 4 of the Public. Reserves and Domains Act, 1908. NUISANCE INSPECTOR’S REPORT. The Inspector of Nuisances reported that the Borough was in a fairly clean condition at present, but there had been some complaints regarding a drain, near the boatshed. The Inspector stated that he found it very hard to get written complaints about any nuisance at all, and in this case the person making the complaint would not sign his name to it.— On the motion of Cr Richmond, seconded by Cr Stewart, it was decided that the complaint from the Inspector be referred back to him with instructions to act at once. pay-sheet. Accounts amounting to 12s 6d were passed tor payment, allocated as follows; —General account ,£135 is 3d, gas works ,£57 os yd, Town Hall L,oau £56 19s 6d, Town Hall, ,£43 10s lod, sanitation ,£29 7s, library ,£26 16s, cemetery ,£l3 15s, and reserves £3 2S 2S. VISIT OF HEALTH OFFICER. At the previous meeting a motion was passed to the effect that the Hospital Board be asked what charge would be made for a monthly visit of the Board’s Health Officer, and at last night’s meetiug a reply was received to the effect that the Board had resolved that Inspector O’Brien be allowed to visit Foxton monthly as requested at a cost to the Foxton Borough of ,£l2 per annum.
It was decided, on the motion of Cr Bpeirs, seconded hy Cr Chrysta.ll, that the receipt of the Hospital Board’s letter be acknowledged, and in .answer to same the Council is of opinion that they are entitled to visits from Inspector O’Brien in his capacity of Hcalui Officer, when required, without any additional charge. GENERAI,. The poundkeeper reported that during the month ot December. 13 horses, 5 head of cattle, and 2 donkeys had been impounded by the ranger, and driving fees amounting to 13s had been collected.
