The ordinary meeting of the Moutoa Drainage Board will be held on Friday, Bth iust., at 7.45 p.m. Business : General. The Seventh Day Adventists intend to conduct a two months’ mission in F'oxtou, and will erect a tent in which meetings will be held, next to Mr Hopper’s premises in Main Street.

The box plan for the Huddersfield Bellringers will close at the Town Clerk’s office at 5 p.m. to-to-morrow (Wednesday). Date bookings will be taken at the Coronation Hall, up to d p.m. on Thursday, Tlh. We have made arrangements to give the public the election return • as soon as they come to hand on Thursday night. The hoarding will be erected in front of the Herald office and the Borough Council will provide the illuminations. We are promised the hearty co-operation of the postmaster and bis staff, and Foxton will be on an equal footing with the large centres in this respect.

A meeting of the stewards of the Foxton Racing Club was held last night, when routine business was transacted. It was reported that good progress is being made with the improvements to the buildings and appointments at the course, and it was decided to call tenders for painting all the buildings. The resignation of Mr C. Hunt as a steward was received with regret, and Mr J. Burr was appointed in his stead. An open air No-Diceu.se meeting was held in Main Street on Saturday night, when addresses were delivered by Messrs Whibley and Vincent. There was a large attendance, and the speakers were briefly introduced by Mr Hornblow. The speakers each dealt with different aspects of the question and received good hearings, with the exception of a few interjections. At the conclusion of the speeches, questions were invited, but none were asked, and the meeting which had been most orderly throughout, terminated.
