HUDDERSFIELD BELDRINGERS BAND.
The above baud, which will show at Foxton on Thursday next, December 7th, under the direction of the well-known amusement caterers, Messrs J. and N. Tait, is said to be a unique combi nation, having bad the distinction of winning twelve competitions out of thirteen contests. Dike the famous “ Besses o’ the Barn ” the band is, we are told, almost exclusively composed of working men. In 1901, 1902, and the band won first prizes at Manchester, and owing to a rule in the competitions, they were debarred from entering in 1904. However, in 1905 they again entered, and succeeded in carrying off lirst honours also in 1906 and 1907. Following this up, the band had a remarkable run of successes, winning the championship cup at Cluystal Palace, Glasgow, Yorkshire, Hradlorcl, Slaithwaile, also 25 gold and 36 silver medals. The band’s repertoire includes popular airs, selections rrom the famous operas, and hymn tunes, their rendering being, it is said,
extremely fine. The band is assisted by several English artists, including Ella Airhe, the charming young pianologuist, mimic, xylophonist and composer, who is spoken of as one of England’s most popular artists, also Miss Diilian Bennett, the eminent soprano. Popular prices are to be charged. Scats may be reserved at the Town Clerk’s office.
