SCHOOL COMMITTEE

The ordinary meeting of the local State School Committee was held on Thursday night. Present ; Messrs Horublow (chairman), Betty (secretary), Hussey, Henderson aud Read. Formal correspondence was read Irom the Board and received. The headmaster’s report was read and adopted. It was decided to authorise the caretaker to cary out certain minor requirements. It was decided to observe a holiday on People’s Day of the Palmerston Show. The visitors reported that the buildings aud grounds were in good order. It was decided to fill up holes iu the main path as soon as Council had any limestone available. Mr Read brought up the question of a school railway excursion and picnic iu the Ashhurst Domain, but it was decided to hold the matter over for a further meeting. Accounts were passed for payment. Messrs Horublow aud Henderson were appointed visitors for the mouth.
