CARNIVAL.
TO-MORROW AND SATURDAY.
All arrangements are practically complete for the Carnival to be held in the Coronation Hall tomorrow and Saturday. The Mayor will formally open the Carnival at 3 p.m. Admission will be free on both afternoons, but a charge of one shilling will be made each evening. The programme as published elsewhere in this issue, sets out the various attractions, which should be sufficiently interesting to please everyone. The children’s items, including the pageant of Empire, Maypole dance, Flower Queen, etc., with lime-light effect, will be shown on both nights, and the ample stage accommodation should make these splendidly-dressed items well worth the price of admission. The children have been carefully trained for several weeks in the various movements, and are acquitting themselves splendidly. The dresses are very pretty, and parents have gone to a good deal of trouble in this connection. Besides the various side shows, there will be some amusing competitions such as hat-trimming, Aunt Sally, shooting, etc. The stalls are to be managed by capable assistants, and refreshments will be served in the spacious dining room. The whole entertainment is the must novel yet held in Foxton, and should result in achieving the object aimed at, viz., the liquidation of the church building debt.
