THE BOATING FATALITY.

MISSING BODIES NOT YET

FOUND

FUNERAE OF THE VICTIMS

The search for the bodies of Miss O’Sullivan, Leslie Robert and Douglas Robert, lost in the boating accident at the Manavvatu Heads on Sunday continues, but up to the present without success. Constable Sweeney, Major O’Sullivan, Messrs Senior, Langley, Hunter, Cody and others have been engaged in searching the river and sea beach for miles. Dragging operations have been equally unsuccessiul. It is still hoped that the bodies may still be found in the river, but against this the opinion is held that they have been taken out to sea and will be washed upon the beach. Messrs Robert and Groves, the survivors of the accident, are still very unwell.

The funerals oi the victims took place at Palmerston yesterday and the town wore an aspect of mourning, Hags being flown at hallmast from many buildings, and from the baud rotunda.

The two processions were made up of a great number of sympathisers. Floral emblems were received from near and far, including a number from school children, and were so numerous that special carriages were required to carry them. The coffins were placed in separate graves in the Palmerston cemetery, the offices of burial being conducted by the Rev. H. G. Kosher. The pail-bearers were : For Mrs Robert —Messrs J. Senior, G. Tortenseu, W. Kirk, ii. R. B. Holbeu, Cam. Turner and J. Mounsey ; for Mrs Grove—Messrs \V. Dawick, Bert Pratt, W. Turner, Ritcnlield, F'. Kirk and W. A. Browning. The employees ot Messrs Dunk and Pringle acted as bearers lot the two children, Rex Kugeue Grove and John Hardy Grove. Many kindly messages of condolence continue to be received by the bereaved relatives. The Prime Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, has expressed his deep symathy.
