STARR-BALDWIN COMPANY
On Saturday evening, at the Masonic Hall, the Starr-Baldwin Company will present one of their highly interesting entertainments. In speaking of this combination a northern contemporary says ; The “Star” turn, that is of Starr and Leslie, is a smart new act; they are a whole show in themselves. A combination of crisp repartee, tricky jugglery and Indian clubs, and popular songs. The lady has a pleasing and powerful voice. Starr and Leslie are worth the price of admission alone. Recall after recall greeted Madame Russell, whose operatic selections came as a welcome change. Mora, blindfolded on the stage of the theatre, revealed with apparent correctness in about a dozen instances questions that had been writte.. ... .icrent members of
the audience and retained in their own possession. Dr. Rowe is a genial wizard who keeps on excellent terms with his audience by a running fire of humorous patter during the performance of numerous conjuring illusions. Koro was the central figure of a pretty Japanese scene, the feature of which was the making of coloured pictures, a novel form of art that appealed greatly to the audience. Mr Colin Stuart and the other members of the company acquitted themselves creditably, each part showing briskness and finish, and it is safe to say that it will command attention from all lovers of a bright and refined entertainment.
An afternoon matinee for children will be given at 3.30 p.m. when the little ones will be admitted to all parts for sixpence.
