A WELLINGTON TRAGEDY.

Wellington, August 24,

Joseph W. Braithwaite, in business in Wellington as an auctioneer for the past three years, shot himself in the side of the head at about g o’clock this morning and died in the hospital shortly betore twelve. The tragedy occurred in his own auction mart in Manners street, next to the Opera House. Deceased, who was a married man with a family, had been depressed of late. He was formerly clerk for the Johnsonville Town Board and contested the Wellington suburbs seat at the last general election. At the inquest the verdict was that deceased had died from a wound self-inflicted while temporarily of unsound mind.
