PREMIER’S HOME-COMING.

SOME DENIALS

SIR JOHN FINDLAY TO GO

TO THE POLL

Wellington, August 25

Ministers and many members of Parliament and others went out by the Government steamer Hinemoa to-night to meet Sir Joseph Ward and Sir John Findlay on the Ruapehu. She arrived about ten o’clock and anchored in the harbour to await the usual Inspection by the doctor. The Ruapehu’s saloon was crowded with visitors by the Hinemoa and Janie Seddou. Both Sir Joseph Ward and Sir John Findlay made speeches to the assemblage, thanking them for the hearty reception. Sir Joseph Ward took occasion to deny the rumour that he bad purchased an estate in Essex and intended going Home as High Commissioner, Neither were Sir Robert Stout nor Sir John Findlay going to be High Commissioner. Sir John Findlay stated that he would be a candidate for a seat in the House of Representatives at the coming elections, and if not elected would cheerfully go back to the profession he left five years ago.
