The following is the Town Clerk’s report for the past month ou the workings of the borough, read at last night’s Council meetiug : During the past month the Palmerston North metal has been coming forward steadily, and the men have been engaged in spreading aud breaking same on Moutoa road, Union street, south end of Main street, aud Johnston street. The Triangle has been mown aud weeded, the Main street water channels cleaned, and the cemetery fence repaired. While in Wellington iu connection with the Town Flail loan, I inspected aud purchased the road grader under offer to the Council, for the sum of ; the original cost two or three years ago was £73. This machine is iu good condition, and very little the worse for wear, and should do good service in the Borough. I believe it will pay lor itself iu the first twelve months. As soon as the rest of the metal is spread I propose to get ou with the drains, which should have been started a month ago. The tender of Mr Claude Speirs for the purchase of the old library at £ls was accepted.
