SOCIAL AND DANCE.
The social and dance held in the Masonic Hall last night, in aid of the Presbytery, Fund was f a pronounced success from every point of view. On account of the fire early in the evening a start was not made as early as intended, hut when commenced the entertainment was kept going without a break until the early hours of the morning, and a most enjoyable time was spent by all present. During the evening songs were contributed by Mesdames Duggan and Boyes, and Messrs Fowler, Richards, Colder and Hooker and a recitation by Mr Claris. The M’s.C. were Messrs Dr Adams and S. Dudsou. The dance music was supplied by Messrs F. C. Berthold (piano), C. Berthold (violin), J. Colder (cornet) and H. Read (basso). Extras were contributed by Mrs Boyes and Mr Dougall, and the accompaniments were played by Mrs Boyes, Messrs Berthold and Douglas. Those present state that this function was one of the most enjoyable yet held locally and the hope was expressed that this will form one of a series of similar socials to be held during the winter.
From a financial point of view the function was most successful and the Presbytery Fund will consequently benefit by a fair amount.
Special praise is due to Mr J. Colder, the energetic secretary, who was indefatigable in his efforts to make the allair successful.
