A PERSISTENT FEMALE.

DISTURBS A TEMPERANCE MEETING. During his temperance address at Lower Hutt on Tuesday evening, the Rev. L. M. Isitt experienced an unusual form of interruption, says the Times. He was declaiming on the evils of alcohol when, in a shrill feminine voice, came from the body of the hall: “ What about our Saviour ?” “I will be glad to answer questions at the end of my address,” replied the lecturer, but the interjections continued, until Mr Isitt asked the interrupter, whether man or woman, to come on to the platform. In response to the invitation a neatly dressed woman inarched up amidst the encouragement of the audience. Arrived on the platform she complacently .seated herself on the table—no c hair being forthcoming and boidly gazed upon the audience. It then became apparent that she was intoxicated, and for once Mr Isitt seemed completely nonplussed. “What nre we to do with her ?” he asked the chairman a burly clergyman of 6ft qiu—who remonstrated with the woman for a minute, and then gently, but firmly, grasped her by her arm and coaxiugly led her to the door. -Further the woman would not go, and after a scene lasting about three minutes she was allowed to remain in the hall, despite Mr Jsitt’s protest that he could not go ou - while she was in the hall.
