MEXICAN REBELLION.
BATTEE OF THIS BORDER. AMERICANS KIELED. New York, April iS. Bullets rained in the City of Douglas, Arizona, during a transfrontier battle between 1600 Federals and a thousand rebels. Two hundred Federals are reported to have been killed. The battle was indecisive. The rebel losses are not known. Several inhabitants of Douglas were killed by the flying bullets. Garcia, the rebels’ leader, subsequently crossed the frontier and surrendered to the American forces. His reason for taking this course is not known. Washington, April iS. The State Department has dispatched a further urgeut message to Mexico complaining of the killing of American citizens in consequence of border battles. Mr Bryce, the British Ambassador, and President Taft had a lengthy conference, at which, it is understood, the landing of British bluejackets at San Quentin, and also the question of AngloAmerican arbitration were discussed, Mexico City, April 17. The Federal troops were repulsed on the Arizona border. During the fight machine-gun bullets rained into American territory.
