LEVIN-MARTON RAILWAY.

PUBEIC MEETING AT EEVIN.

(Special to Herald). Levin, This Day,

A largely attended public meeting was held at Levin last night to discuss the Leviu-Marton railway connection. The Mayor (Mr B. Gardener) presided. The following resolution was carried unanimously : “ That this meeting of residents of Levin and district requests the Government to take immediate action and have a trial survey made of the proposed Marton-Levin railway in accordance with the promises made by the Prime Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, on different occasions to deputations, and they would further urge and impress on the Government the importance of keeping faith with the public on this most important question.” The resolution was proposed by the Chairman, and seconded by Mr Bartholomew. A full report of the meeting will appear in our next issue.
