BRITISH POLITICS.
London, April 6. In the House of Commons, Mr A. Hillier's amendment that the Lords should have power to move amendments to Money Bills was rejected by 259 to 199. Mr Winston Churchill admitted that the Australian Second Chamber had that power, but it was constituted on a popular basis. There was a possibility that when the Lords were reconstituted the Government will reconsider the point. The closure was constantly applied during the debate, and the Opposition’s irritation resulted in a slight scrimmage in the division lobby. There was more pushing and some tall hats were thrown off.
