MARTHA TAINUI AGAIN.
Taihapk, March 16. A surpiise was caused here yesterday when a half-caste woman, who posed as the possessor of untold wealth, was arrested, after being identified as Martha Tainui, an habitual criminal, who was released in October last on license. The woman had completely dazzled business men with stories of her alleged wealth. She was driven about by land agents, entertained them and others, and talked of giving large benefactions to public objects in the town. When searched by the police she only possessed a penny. Charged with false pretences this morning, she was remanded till to-morrow.
