MANAWATU COUNTY COUNCIL.
The ordinary meeting of the Manawatn County Council was held at the County Chambers, Sandon, yesterday. Councillor J. G. Wilson (chairman) presided, and Crs G. Kendall, H. H. Hunt, J. Henson, H. Masters, R. B. McKenzie, and W. Barber were also present. The Minister of Public Works wrote, stating he was inquiring into the position regarding Foxtou Beach road, and stating that as soon as formalities were complete, warrant would be issued giving power to construct road.
The h'oxton Harbour Board wrote, stating the representative to the Board would have to be elected by ratepayers on the same day as the election of councillors. Also stating the chairman would like to have a suggestion as to what district should be a rating area as security for purchase ol wharf, should the Board agree with the Minister of Railways regarding the purchase. Mr H. T. Divey, llimalangi, wrote, asking the Council to lower the culvert, near the i.| mile peg, to enable him to drain the water off Messrs Barber’s Himatangi estate.
Mr A. K. Drew, County Treasurer, reported as follows ou the county finances General account, cr., >£1466 os .|.d ; loan account, cr., ,£843 ids qd ; net credit balance, 17s rd. General account, cr., os 4d, L,oan account, cr., ,£843 ids qd : net credit balance, 17s id.
The final amounts are available for expenditure iu the various ridings to March 31 ; Sandon £(.ji 5s id, Mount Stewart £126 16s lod, Waitohi £162 2s tod, Rougctea ,£4B 17 id, Carnarvon ,£26 os 3d, Kawakawa ,£59 12 id. Amounts over-expended : Awahou £,'34 7 S > Whirokino division £2 4 13s 4d.
