RIFLE SHOOTING.
On the local range to-morrow the first round of the competition for the challenge Cup, presented by Mr Perreau, will be fired. Fourteen entries have been received, including one from Shannon and three; from Himatangi. The handicapping has been done on the 32 limit basis, but the secretary has experienced great difficulty in framing the handicaps of some of the local men on account of their not having done any shooting this year. Shooting will commence promptly at half-past two to-morrow afternoon and the ranges will be 200, 500, and 600 yards. The following are the handicaps : —S. J. Hartley (Himatangi) scr., W. Shearman (Shannon) 4, W. Moffatt (Himatangi) 5, C. Morgan (Foxton) 7, J. Ross (Foxton) 8, J. Conchie (Foxton) 8, E. Christensen (Flimatangi) 9, C. Rand (Foxton) 10, G. H. Stiles (Foxton) 10, J. Gillespie (Foxton) 12, R. Ashmore (Foxton) 14, K. Fume (Foxton) 14, Dr Adams (Foxton) 15, W. H. Read (Foxton) 15.
