ROMAN CATHOLICS AND EDUCATION.

CONFERENCE OPENED BY CARDINAL MORAN. Svdnkv, January 17. The Roman Catholic Education Conference convened by Cardinal Moran opened to-day. It consists of representatives of the clergy and Roman Catholic teaching orders, and its object is to discuss education generally and to consider safeguards necessary for the interests of Catholic children and schools in what is termed the educational crisis. The Conference will also consider the attitude to be adopted by Catholics in connection with bursaries and scholarships. Cardinal Moran, in opening the Educational Congress, said the enemies of the Church were seeking to undermine the very foundations of Christianity, and had vowed the total destruction ot the Church.
