SPORTING.
NOTES. Acceptances for the first day’s handicaps, and entries tor the Trial Hack Race (first day), and Maiden Mack Scurry (second day) at the Foxton Racing Club's forthcoming meeting close to-morrow night. Everything points to a successful meeting being held by the local Racing Club on Saturday and Monday next, and all that is required now is tine weather. A number of visiting horses have already arrived and have put in some excellent training. Early every morning the racecourse presents quite a busy appearance, a number of sports taking the opportunity of watching some interesting gallops. Mr S. Messena, the well-known and popular sportsman, had the misfortune to lose the services for a few weeks of the well-known sprinter, Waiouru. It appears that while being led for exercise by a boy mounted on another horse collided with the rail, which broke and penetrated his shoulder, causing a severe wound. It is very unfortunate for Mr Messena to lose Waiouru just on the eve of the local meeting, who had the gelding in splendid condition.
