MANAWATU ROWING CLUB.
OPENING OF SEASON. By advertisement elsewhere in this issue, the Mauawatu Rowing Club notify that the season is now open. The Club regret the delay in opening, but this was unavoidable on account of the slate of the plant at the beginning of the season. All the boats have now been repaired, improvements made to the shed and block and tackle erected with which it will be possible for one to Irani a boat into the shed. The plant has been added to by the purchase ol new sets of oars for the pleasure boats and new sweeps for the outriggers. A new 16ft boat has also been ordered from Auckland and this is expected to arrive any day now. It is the intention of the Club to hold a regatta and aquatic sports in about a mouth’s time, and the Committee will meet at an early date to make all the necessary arrangements. From present appearances it seems that the Club is going to have a very successsful season, as much more enthusiasm is being shown by committeemen and members than has been the case for many years past, A caretaker has been engaged, and everything in the shed is now spic and span- The Club has been registered under the Unclassified Societies Act. The rules, which were somewhat unworkable, have been revised, and will be submitted for approval at a general meeting.
