NOTES.

Shrapuel Shell was nominated for the local meeting, but his name does not appear in Mr Henrys’ adjustments. Waiwareware, winner of the Wairarapa Racing Club’s Handicap at their recent meeting, has been allotted 7st. nib. in the Cup at the coming meeting. Ascalon and Hermia, the Levinowned and trained pair, are doing some excellent training, and should be in the pink of condition by the 21st. Gawain is reported to be in good racing condition notwithstanding his advanced years, and carries 7St. 2lb. in the Flying Handicap at the approaching meeting. The St. Ambrose mare Ambrosian, which has been leased by Mr F. S. Easton, will make her first appearance in her new owner's colours at the local meeting, where she has been given yst. 2lb. in the Cup. The well-known horseman, W. Young, is at present spending a well-earned rest at Auckland. He has been engaged to ride Omati at Whangarei. It is reported that the gelding is in good nick, and is expected to run prominently. The Awapuui trainer, F. Porter, has a useful pair in Rauparaha and Kilsyth to represent him at the coming meeting, and both are reported to be in good condition. The former will carry top weight in the Cup, and the latter Bst. in the Herrington Welter.
