CRICKET.
A match is being played on the Park pitch this afternoon between a team from the Palmerston North High School Old Boys’ Club, and a local team. The Palmerston Club are represented by the following :—Waldegrave (2), Morris, Pegden (2), Wills, Nash, O’Brien, Downes, Winton and Reed. The Foxton team is composed of Robinson, Muuro, Howe, Gilder, McMurray, Rand, Knewstub, Whibley, Ward, Hollington and Rori. At Adelaide on Thursday the weather was again beautiful tor the continuation of the third test match between South Africa and Australia. The attendance totalled 4000. Australia continued their first innings and when the last wicket fell had compiled 465 runs. South Africa commenced their second innings aud were all disposed of for 360, making a total tor the two innings of 842. Australia, requiring 378 runs to win, commenced their second innings, and have lost four wickets lor 187. Kelleway 33 and Carter 11 are the not out men.
