BLOW FOR BLOW.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT
All those who desire to reserve seats on the occasion of the production of “Blow for Blow,” by the local amateurs at the Public Hall, on Wednesday evening next, are reminded that seats can be reserved, without extra charge, on application to the secretary. From the interest that is being evinced in the production it seems that our amateurs are going to be greeted with a bumper house and intending patrons would, therefore, be well advised to book their seats without delay. In this production the scenery is a special feature, there being no less than six changes. The scenes are : A lawyer’s office, a room in a lodging house in a poor neighbourhood, drawing-room in gentleman’s country residence, sittingroom in town house, a street in the city and a room in a middleclass boardinghouse. The local society have a full range of scenery for this production—in fact in this connection they are as well situated as most of the dramatic companies that play the “ smalls ” In New Zealand. As far as furniture and effects are concerned something particularly good is promised. The music will be right up to the mark, being supplied by Mr Betty’s orchestra. As far as acting is concerned it is not necessary to say anything as local theatre-goers have had ample opportunity of judging for themselves, and from the manner in which the previous efforts of our amateuss have been received it is safe to say that they have been appreciated.
