MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
QUARTEREY RETURNS. Mr F. Woods, Clerk of the Court, has supplied us with the following return of the business transacted at the local Court for the quarter ended September 30th, 1910. During the quarter three sittings of the Court were presided over by the Magistrate and 14 by Justices. CIVIL BUSINESS. Thirty-seven cases were heard by the Magistrate. The aggregate amount sued for was 5s lod and the amount recovered 4s gd. Three applications were heard in chambers. The number of plaints entered was 31. Three distress warrants were issued, two judgment summonses, and one order was made on a judgment summons. Eighty - four summonses and ten distress warrants were served. The amount ot civil fees paid in stamps was £l3 5s 4d. CRIMINAL. Twenty-four persons were summoned or taken into custody, two cases were dismissed for want of evidence, three dismissed on the merits, 19 summarily convicted, nine fined, one imprisoned, four prohibition orders issued and five were convicted and discharged. The amount of fines paid in stamps was £7 1 os. OLD AGE TENSIONS. During the quarter two old age pensions were granted.
