At a well attended meeting of farmers in the Raupo district, resolutions were passed in favour of the optional tenure of laud, and that all Crown lands should be opened up under this system, that the proposal to raise the age at which land can be applied tor from 17 to 21 will have the effect of driving young men into the cities or compel them to look elsewhere for land, that the lease-in-per-petuity holders should have the right to purchase at the original value plus one per cent, of the difference between lease-iu-per-petuity and option right of purchase.
