MANAWATU A. & P. SHOW.

The twenty-fifth agricultural and pastoral show to be held at Palmerston N., on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th ot November next, possesses very strongly those essential features, which, in the eyes of the farmer and breeder are necessary to ensure a great show of pureblooded stock, also to be sufficiently attractive over the show period to be popular with the public. How it is achieved may be gathered by the very liberal support afforded to the live stock division, the bulwark of an agricultural show. Probably horses afford most fascination and pleasure to the general public, recognising this, the large sum of ,£SOO, besides cups and medals is sheduled. All the popular classes for saddle and harness horses and ponies are richly catered for. The desire ot the public to witness real good hunting and riding events is strongly supported, a reputation for which Palmerston isunexcelled. No wonder then the four ladies classes are allotted and gentlemen riders in three clases with a fifty guinea challenge cup. Much more might be written of the horse division, but to pass to the cattle and sheep prize schedule. Herein is a dominant feature of the Association’s liberality in building up a great live stock exhibition wherein animals are concentrated yearly from all parts of the North Island. Cattle are apportioned besides the Association’s champion medals, Ayrshire breeders champion prize, and the Association’s special champion prizes for the dairy breeds. Sheep are allotted in prizes besides the specials of Mr E. Short, totalling ,£2OO, New Zealand Sheep Breeders’ Association Shield and several valuable silver cups. Pigs are figured for ,£ll7 in six breeds. Many other features are prominent among which are the Manawatu Kennel Club Dog Show, poultry, home industries, schools and fine arts, to which several hundreds of pounds are allotted. For a full schedule, enquiries should be addressed to Mr J. C. Dane, secretary, box 85, Palmerston North,
