WANGANUI EDUCATION BOARD.

[By Telegraph—Special to Herald.] Wanganui, This day. The ordinary meeting of the Wanganui Education Board was held last night. Present: —Messrs Piraui (chairman). Bennett, Dixon, Fraser, Guthrie, M.P., O’Dea, Purnell and Spurdle. Resignations: E. Eamberg, Tauangatutu ; S. Crowthers, Foxton. Appointments: Miss Bee, Moutoa; J. B. McKenzie, Rongotea; J. Browning, Makowhai. Several transfers that had been offered to teachers were declined. Leave of absence was granted to M. J. Boyes, M. C. Walter, A. Palmer, E. E. Aitken, A. A. Andrews, L. Jeuks, J. N. Gibbons and Miss Smith. Mr Jackson was appointed special assistant at the Eltham District High School. The tender receive I for the erection of a teacher's residence at Eltham was declined and it was decided to invite fresh tenders. It was reported th it the Government had made a grant of for additions to the Taihape District High School and tenders are to be invited for the work. The audit department returned the Board’s balance sheet with two tags. Mr Bennett was appointed to report on skylights for Campbell Street School and on dual desks for Long burn. Mr Fraser was appointed to report on Glen Oroua where the committee are asking for a considerable sum for improvements. The Wanganui Technical school site tenders were satisfactory and eleven sections were leased as from October Ist, possession to be given six months from that date. The revenue will be ,£9OB. The Board decided to borrow for erection of infants school, technical school and board offices. The Girls College Board ol Governors accepted the tender of Ashwell and McAnery for the erection of assembly hall. The resignations of Mr Blanford and Miss Gow, music teachers, were accepted, and the principal empowered to make temporary arrangements. The Board overdraft amounted to £2941 T 7» 5d Accounts amounting to .£575 iSs 9d were passed for payment and the Board adjourned till September sth.
